Water Resources Planning Organization (WARPO) has prepared the National Water Management Plan (NWMP) for Bangladesh in December 2001. The goal of the NWMP is to implement the National Water Policy (NWPo) and contribute to national economic development through rational management of water resources, in a way that protects the natural environment and improves the quality of life for the people of Bangladesh. The plan, will be reviewed and updated every five years and set in the context of development indicators up to 50 years ahead. It will be a firm plan for the subsequent five years, and a perspective plan to 25 years. NWMP is a framework plan consisting of 84 programmes, which are to be implemented by the line agencies and others as designated.
